Travel jobs as an RN are not as plentiful with all the variety that they used to be. yes, they are still there but there are not as many choices for a RN to choose from and there are downward pressure on RN travel compensation. I work for a 10 hospital system in So. Florida as a Recruiter. Hospital admissions are down, and the are looking for alternatives to costly travelers. Or, because the recession has hit hospitals, as well, some may not need travelers, as much.
PS – You can still try it, and travel opportunities are still there. Don’t get me wrong: the travel opportunities are just not what they USED to be.

My aunt has done both and she really liked being a traveling nurse and they usually make more money than the nurses that stay in one place!
